Birth of a kitedinghy racer

One of my personal projects, aims to design and develop a plywood amateur build 'one design' kitedinghy for singlehanded fleet racing. The designwork started in 2022 and the build of the first prototype commenced early 2024. Timeschedule for testing the 'prototype' is summer 2026.

Inspired by russian S8 class iceboats, formula one racing cars from the sixties, australian lowrider scow moth dinghies and formula kite racing, the kitedinghy is for singlehanded use. Steering of the 3m long boat is done with your feet while the kite, that is attached to the handdriven horizontal steering wheel that is attached directly to the boat, while the 'driver' is seated like in a formula racing car, close to the water surface.

The ultimate goal is to develop a 'one design' kitedinghy class under the creative common (cc) license that can be amateur build an raced all over the world.
